Plot summary
Ben Powell and his wife Kate rent a house by the sea in New England for the summer and bring their teenage son Steve with them. The house they have taken is said to be haunted. Strange and increasingly destructive occurrences begin soon after the family moves in, and the damage keeps mounting. Ben and Kate do not believe in poltergeists. When something in the house is broken or wrecked, the couple's suspicion goes straight to their son. Steve is blamed for mayhem he did not cause, and the blame follows him through the summer vacation.
