Plot summary

Detective Sam Trowel cannot find the kidnapping and drug ring he is after, so his apprentice Kaspar locates the hideout for him, a compound called the Hidan of Maukbeiangjow. Trowel brings in a safecracker, Freddie Fenzer, and Fenzer's bodyguard Noname, passing them off as suppliers so the ring will abduct one of his own operatives, Ruthie. Ruthie is to wear a tracking device, but the ring grabs her before she has it on. Prudence is the apprentice of a wizard named Aph, who uses vodoun rituals to fill corpses with demonic earth spirits and with extraterrestrials summoned from the Red Star galaxy. Freddie's brother Junior arrives with a stash of marijuana and gives Prudence a hard time.
