Doodles Weaver
Biography
Doodles Weaver was an American comedian, character actor and musician who started out in radio. He was born in Los Angeles, and in the late 1930s he could be heard on Rudy Vallee's programs and Kraft Music Hall. In 1946 he became a member of Spike Jones's City Slickers, creating the spoonerism-loving Professor Feetlebaum and touring with the Musical Depreciation Revue until 1951. He also recorded comedy records, including a parody of the William Tell Overture, and in 1957 he hosted The Doodles Weaver Show, an NBC variety series. His television debut came in 1951, and he went on to guest star on many series, often as eccentric characters. His film credits numbered more than 90, among them The Birds (1963), The Nutty Professor (1963) and The Great Impostor (1960). His final screen role came in 1981.

Big break
Weaver's television career began when his Ajax cleanser commercial with a pig drew such an audience reaction that the network gave him his own series.
A first
In his 1965 short-film series A Day With Doodles, Weaver played every character himself, and the credits listed "Doodles... Doodles Weaver" and "Everybody Else... Doodles Weaver."
Behind the camera
Doodles Weaver copy edited the Gettysburg Address, telling Lincoln to change "fourscore and seven" to eighty-seven and adding "Be specific."
Beyond film
In 1966, Weaver made a novelty recording of "Eleanor Rigby" in which he sang, mixed up the words, insulted, and interrupted, all while playing the piano.
