Plot summary
At a performance of his polka band, Jan Lewan has his wife, Marla, model amber jewelry from their souvenir store. He left Poland, worked menial jobs and saved enough to start the band. He met Marla, a local beauty queen, at a charity telethon. The clarinetist Mickey wants to quit, and the musicians believe Jan has taken on too much. An elderly couple asks about investing, and Jan promises a 12% annual return. The state Securities and Exchange Commission sends Ron Edwards, who says unregistered investments are illegal and gives Jan three days to repay his investors.
