Plot summary
Amy Herman lives in Sherman Oaks with parents who look after her; she is socially awkward, still a virgin, and depends on her friendship with Megan Stewart, a popular honors student from North Hollywood whose relationship with her mother is volatile. Megan's friends bully Amy, and a rave Megan brings her to goes badly for her. Lexie, a friend of Megan's, hands Megan's social media handle to Josh, who says he is a teenager at a nearby school but shares only one photograph, claiming his webcam is broken. Megan is charmed. She forgives him for missing a party where they were to meet because he is shy, and he describes what she was wearing. The girls talk by webcam and phone, and Megan agrees to meet him in person.
