Gordon Clapp

Biography

Gordon Clapp is an American actor, born in North Conway, New Hampshire, who graduated from Williams College in 1971 and also studied at the National Theater Institute, part of the Eugene O'Neill Theater Center. Early film work included Running (1979) and Return of the Secaucus Seven (1980), followed by Matewan (1987) and Eight Men Out (1988). He played Detective Greg Medavoy across all twelve seasons of NYPD Blue, from 1993 to 2005, and an Emmy Award came his way in 1998 for that part. His Broadway turn in the 2005 revival of Glengarry Glen Ross brought a Tony nomination as Best Featured Actor in a Play. Later screen credits include Sunshine State (2002), The Game Plan (2007) and Flags of Our Fathers (2006), along with recurring television work on Chicago Fire from 2014 and a role in Mare of Easttown in 2021.
