Plot summary
The residents of Royston Vasey face a string of apocalyptic events. One of the show's writers proposes a new series in which everyone in the town wakes up with a tail, but his colleagues would rather move on to other projects. The vicar, Bernice Woodall, tells Pauline Campbell-Jones and Mr. Chinnery that the signs of an apocalypse are appearing. Hilary Briss breaks out of prison, seizes Herr Lipp, and the pair commandeer a car belonging to Geoff Tipps. With fireballs falling around them, the three drive to the church and pass through a door in its crypt, emerging in Hadfield, Derbyshire, the real town used for Royston Vasey. In London, Lipp passes himself off as his creator and moves into the man's home, while Briss and Tipps read the writers' new historical horror, The King's Evil.
