Plot summary
Tiffany, once the girlfriend and accomplice of the serial killer Charles Lee Ray, pays a police officer for the remains of Chucky, the doll that holds Ray's soul. In her trailer she repairs the doll and performs a voodoo ritual that brings him back. Their reunion sours when Chucky says he never meant to marry her, and she locks him in a playpen. To leave their doll bodies behind, the two need the Heart of Damballa, an amulet buried with Ray's human body in Hackensack, New Jersey, and they pick Tiffany's neighbor Jesse and his girlfriend Jade as the bodies they want next. Tiffany pays Jesse to drive the dolls to the grave, and he and Jade set out with them.

- To promote the film, Chucky appeared as a heel on the October 12, 1998 episode of WCW Monday Nitro, interrupting a promo between Gene Okerlund and Rick Steiner and saying he hoped Scott Steiner would win an upcoming match between the brothers.
- The idea of creating a girlfriend for Chucky came from David Kirschner after he saw a copy of the classic Bride of Frankenstein in a video store; Don Mancini loved the idea and created the character of Tiffany.
- Don Mancini made Jennifer Tilly his first choice to play Tiffany after being impressed with her in Bound and Bullets Over Broadway, and Gina Gershon, her co-star in Bound, encouraged her to take the role.
- Bringing each doll to life on set took seven puppeteers working together, plus a computer playback operator and a coordinator liaising with the director.
- For the graveyard scene, actors Ed Gale and Debbie Lee Carrington physically wore the Chucky and Tiffany suits, credited on screen as Chucky Double and Tiffany Double.
