Peter Kay

Peter Kay is a comedian from England who also works as an actor, writer and producer. He grew up in Farnworth and took a media performance course at Salford University, then started doing stand-up part time. His 1997 win on the Channel 4 contest So You Think You're Funny, and a Perrier Award nomination at the Edinburgh Fringe a year later, raised his profile. He co-wrote and starred in the mockumentary That Peter Kay Thing (2000), which led to the sitcom Phoenix Nights (2001 to 2002) and later to Max and Paddy's Road to Nowhere (2004). His awards include two British Academy Television Awards, three British Comedy Awards and a National Television Award, plus a Rose d'Or. He voiced Albert Mackintosh in two Wallace & Gromit features, Vengeance Most Fowl (2024) and The Curse of the Were-Rabbit (2005). His 2010 to 2011 tour, listed by Guinness World Records, played to more than 1.14 million people.
