Plot summary
Adam Goldstein comes to in a barricaded cabin with his memory gone and his body altered by an unknown virus. Notes, sketches and photographs he left for himself, along with flashbacks, piece together what happened to him. In the 1980s the Russian scientist Dr. Yuri Yegorov wired restrained patients' brains into a hive mind; the subjects mutated and broke loose. Dr. Baker later sought funding for research into shared memories, working from Yegorov's research in a laboratory set up for him. Yegorov warned that the work was dangerous, then seized the virus samples and left on a hijacked plane. Adam remembers his days as a camp counselor, his friend Clark and his romance with Katie. When a plane goes down in the forest near camp, Adam, Clark, Katie and Jess go to the crash site.
