Plot summary
London, 1901. Ireland is fighting for independence, and Irish revolutionaries bring in Charles Norgate, an Irish American, to rob the Bank of England. Iris Muldoon, a martyr's widow, enlists him; O'Shea leads the group, which intends to take gold bullion worth a million pounds as a political statement. The others mistrust Norgate until he shows his Irish roots. Norgate becomes friendly with Lieutenant Monte Fitch of the Guards, and he breaks into the bank's museum to reach its architectural plans. He finds an underground sewer that runs below the bank vaults.
