Plot summary
Poet loses his job at a gas station after he assaults a customer, and his bad attitude draws the notice of the Hells Angels. He meets the club at a convenience store where they are performing stunts; when one of them smashes his headlight and mocks it, Poet challenges the man. Buddy, the club's leader, steps in and offers to replace the light and invites Poet to ride with them while they handle a score against a rival club. Poet is told to wait outside and joins in anyway. Later he is beaten by four sailors, a fight the Angels even up on his behalf. Accepted as a prospect, he takes an interest in Shill, Buddy's sometime girlfriend, who flirts with him but stays loyal to Buddy.
