Plot summary
King Arthur wants Guinevere, the daughter of King Leodogran, for his queen, but her father will give her only to a knight who defeats his champion. Arthur turns to Lancelot, the knight he trusts most and a model of courage at court, and Lancelot wins the fight. On the road back to Camelot, Sir Modred, Arthur's illegitimate son, tries to kill Guinevere and Lancelot stops him. Before the journey ends, the two admit the love they have come to feel for each other. A rival king's challenge also demands Arthur's attention. Guinevere's marriage to Arthur goes ahead as planned, and Lancelot stays loyal to his king.
