Adrienne Corri

Biography

Adrienne Corri was a Scottish actress born in Glasgow who began in films with The Romantic Age (1949) and Jean Renoir's The River (1951). She was perhaps best known for Mary Alexander, the wife of the writer Frank Alexander, in Stanley Kubrick's A Clockwork Orange (1971), a part she took after other actresses withdrew. Her other films included Lara's mother in David Lean's Doctor Zhivago (1965), Dorothy in Otto Preminger's Bunny Lake Is Missing (1965), and the horror and suspense films Devil Girl from Mars (1954), The Tell-Tale Heart (1960), A Study in Terror (1965), and Vampire Circus (1972). She appeared as Therese Duval in Revenge of the Pink Panther (1978) and in the science fiction film Moon Zero Two (1969), and on television she played the Countess Olivia in Twelfth Night (1970). Corri also worked extensively in theater and wrote The Search for Gainsborough. She died in 2016.
