Jean Wallace
Biography
Jean Wallace, born in 1923, was an actress who started as a teenage fashion model and Earl Carroll showgirl. After MGM found she was 17 instead of the 19 she claimed, her first try at films ended, leaving only a bit part in Ziegfeld Girl. At Paramount she earned a credited part in Louisiana Purchase. Later, at 20th Century Fox, she had a five-year contract yet did little after she declined to appear in Kiss of Death. In the 1950s her career became linked to actor and director Cornel Wilde, who featured her opposite him in B-movies from his production company. The best of these was the film noir The Big Combo (1955), in which she played a gangster's moll. She was Guinevere in Sword of Lancelot (1963), sang on the soundtrack of Beach Red (1967), and took her last starring role in No Blade of Grass (1970). She died in 1990.
