Plot summary
Henry McCarthy is a successful author who is invited back to the high school he attended to deliver the commencement address for the graduating class, nineteen years after his own graduation. Being in his hometown again puts him in the company of a woman he had a crush on back then, a feeling that was never returned, and he has to reckon with it if he is going to get anywhere in his life or his writing. Shasta O'Neil, a senior at the school, flirts with him and asks him to go with her to the prom. It has been described as a knowing-your-age comedy.
