Plot summary
Mike McCoy sings lead for a traveling band and drives race cars on the side, and he likes his single life the way it is. Cynthia Foxhugh, a spoiled heiress used to getting her way, is the first of three women who set their sights on marrying him. Her millionaire father Howard lures Mike and the band off their tour to Santa Barbara to serenade Cynthia for her birthday, and he wants Mike to drive his Fox Five in an upcoming road race, though Mike would rather race his own Cobra. Diana St. Clair, who writes books about men, is studying Mike for her next one. Les, the band's drummer, is tired of the men treating her as a tomboy.

Did you know?!Facts and trivia about Spinout (1966)
Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- Theodore Flicker and George Kirgo, who wrote Spinout's script, first pitched a film based on Elvis Presley's own life, but Col. Parker vetoed it; Flicker then left the project to work on The President's Analyst while Michael Hoey worked on the script uncredited with Kirgo.
- Elvis Presley was paid $750,000 for Spinout plus 40% of the film's profits, a profit-share arrangement on top of his fee.
- The character of Diana St. Clair in Spinout was based on the real writer Helen Gurley Brown, the author of Sex and the Single Girl.
