Frederick Worlock
Biography
Frederick Worlock was an English-American actor who began on the stage, making his stage debut in Bristol in 1906 in Henry V and appearing in four London productions before he moved to the United States in the 1920s. There he acted in Broadway productions from 1923 to 1954. From 1938 to 1966 he worked as a supporting player in films, including How Green Was My Valley (1941), Man Hunt (1941), Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (1941), Singapore (1947), Ruthless (1948), and Spinout (1966). He voiced Horace in One Hundred and One Dalmatians (1961) and took an uncredited voice role in The Sword in the Stone (1963). He also appeared in several 1940s Sherlock Holmes films with Basil Rathbone, and in The New Adventures of Sherlock Holmes he played Inspector Lestrade. He often played professorial roles, both benign and villainous. He died in 1973.
