Plot summary
Roger spends his days reading meters in New York City, where strangers and co-workers alike mock him. He wants to ask out Amanda, an Australian graduate student who lives in his building, but his self-esteem is too low to try. Ian, who runs a community center, points him to a course run by Dr. P, who promises to draw out a student's inner lion while he and his assistant Lesher bully, humiliate and endanger the paying classmates, among them Walsh, Diego and Eli. Roger's confidence rises until he finally asks Amanda for a date, and Dr. P, unwilling to give up his edge, sets out after her himself.
