Zsa Zsa Gabor
Biography
Zsa Zsa Gabor was a Hungarian and American actress and socialite who finished second runner-up in the 1933 Miss Hungary pageant. She launched her stage career in Vienna in 1934 with Richard Tauber's operetta Der singende Traum at the Theater an der Wien, and after settling in the United States in 1941 she drew notice as an actress with European flair. Her first screen part, a supporting role, came in Lovely to Look At (1952). That year also brought We're Not Married! and Moulin Rouge (1952), the film most associated with her, while Lili (1953) followed. In 1958 she appeared in Touch of Evil and Queen of Outer Space, and a later cameo came in The Beverly Hillbillies (1993). She provided a voice in the animated Happily Ever After (1989) and was a regular television guest, playing Minerva on Batman in 1968. She made more than 70 films over a career that lasted into the 1990s.

A role that slipped away
Gabor turned down the lead in a film version of Lady Chatterley's Lover in 1949, with the Cedar Rapids Gazette reporting she refused because of the story's controversial theme.
First role
Gabor's first stage appearance came on August 31, 1934, when she sang the soubrette part in Richard Tauber's operetta Der singende Traum at Vienna's Theater an der Wien.
A first
In 1968, Gabor took the part of Minerva in a Batman episode. She became the program's last "special guest villain" before it was canceled.
Behind the camera
Gabor co-wrote a novel, Every Man For Herself, with writer Victoria Wolf in 1944, and Ladies' Home Journal bought it.
