Zahn McClarnon

Biography

Zahn McClarnon is a Hunkpapa Lakota actor who was born in Denver and spent part of his childhood near Browning, Montana. His first stage work came at Council Bluffs, Iowa's Chanticleer Theater, in a local staging of Jesus Christ Superstar, and after early jobs in Omaha he moved to Los Angeles in the early 1990s. Supporting roles brought him wider attention: Mathias, a tribal police chief, on Longmire, Hanzee Dent on Fargo's second season, Toshaway on The Son, and Akecheta on Westworld, and critics praised his work in Fargo and in the Westworld episode Kiksuya. His film work includes Crow Daddy in Doctor Sleep (2019), Not Forgotten (2009) and Resolution (2012). On television he has also played William Lopez in Hawkeye and Echo, Officer Big in Reservation Dogs, and Olrox in Castlevania: Nocturne. He leads the AMC series Dark Winds as Joe Leaphorn and is an executive producer on it.
