Plot summary
Dr. Jake Rainer, a former child psychiatrist who now works as a therapist, is brought in to reach Tim Warden, a boy with autism who saw his parents killed. Tim does not speak of that night, and Jake's methods are controversial. His teenage sister, Sylvie, keeps watch over him, and it is from her that Jake learns how the Warden household was run. The more time Jake spends with the two of them, the clearer it becomes that the Wardens' marriage was not the contented one it appeared, and that other details of the family could matter to the case.
