Plot summary
Jack Bishop lives in Del Rio, Texas, with Amaya, his second wife, and Toby, his eleven-year-old daughter from his first marriage. Toby does not come home from school one day, and her anxious parents report her missing to the authorities. The rookie Sheriff Casper Navarro, a cousin of Amaya's, handles the case at first, and the FBI soon arrives to lead the hunt. Agents ask about Jack's past and find no official records reaching back more than ten years, and nothing about the death or grave of his first wife. Jack and Amaya must face their own troubled histories as they try to bring Toby home.
