Biography

William Reynolds was an American actor known for film and television work across the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s. Born in Los Angeles, he studied at Pasadena City College and worked in its radio department until a talent agent spotted him in minor stage parts; he signed with Universal Studios in 1952. Cast repeatedly as a leading character's son, he played Laurence Olivier's son in Carrie (1952) and appeared in the Douglas Sirk melodramas All That Heaven Allows (1955) and There's Always Tomorrow (1956), plus the horror picture Cult of the Cobra (1955). He moved toward television in 1958, starred as Sandy Wade on The Islanders from 1960 to 1961, costarred on The Gallant Men and appeared in the Disney film Follow Me, Boys! (1966). His best known role was Special Agent Tom Colby on The F.B.I., which he played from 1967 to 1973. He left show business after that series ended and became a businessman.
