Slash
Biography
Rising to fame as the lead guitarist of Guns N' Roses, Slash is a British and American musician whose hard rock playing brought him worldwide success beginning in the late 1980s. Born in Hampstead, London, he moved to Los Angeles at age six. He played in Hollywood Rose before joining Guns N' Roses in 1985, and the band's debut Appetite for Destruction became a huge commercial success. After forming Slash's Snakepit in 1994, he left Guns N' Roses in 1996 and later co-founded Velvet Revolver with Scott Weiland; that group's album Contraband topped the U.S. chart and its single Slither won a Grammy. His 2010 solo album Slash gathered many guest singers, and he went on to record with Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators. He rejoined Guns N' Roses in 2016 and in 2012 entered the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with the group. On screen, he appeared in The Underground Comedy Movie (1999) and Brüno (2009).
