Plot summary
Studio sessions, a video shoot for Enter Sandman and a listening party for invited fans fill the first part, where Metallica work through the album that becomes known as The Black Album and a guitar solo sets band and producer at odds. The second part follows the group on the road, from the opening European leg of the Wherever We May Roam Tour through the stadium dates shared with Guns N' Roses, and gathers performances from Donington, the MTV Video Music Awards, Moscow, a festival in Oakland, California, and Phoenix. Between shows, Jason Newsted makes sandwiches to take back to the hotel instead of ordering room service.
