Plot summary

Survivors of the AIDS pandemic describe what those years were like. Their accounts run beside the story of Freddie Mercury's last chapter, and it is the first time his story has been set alongside them. People who tested positive for HIV and people who lost loved ones to the illness speak about the moral panic the pandemic brought about and the prejudice that surrounded HIV and AIDS, while medical practitioners and human rights campaigners add their own recollections. Archive footage carries Mercury's own story. Queen's tribute show at Wembley Stadium, one of the biggest ever staged, was held after his death to celebrate him and to challenge that prejudice.
