Russell Yuen

Biography

Russell Yuen is a Canadian character actor who has worked extensively in film and television. He grew up in the Montreal suburbs and was headed for a medical career until a drama elective sent him to study theater at Concordia University and then into screen work. Before acting paid the bills, he worked as a fitness trainer, a rafting guide and a white water rescuer. His Shaolin martial arts training helped him move past small parts as fighters and gangsters into bigger roles, and The Red Violin gave him his breakout. His features include Eye of the Beholder (1999), Bulletproof Monk (2003), Shattered Glass, Century Hotel, Between the Moon and Montevideo, The Bone Collector, The Heist and Pluto Nash, plus the Quebec film Ballade des Dangereux. On television he had recurring roles on the French series Jack Carter and on Diva, and appeared in Relic Hunter, Kung Fu: The Legend Continues, Once A Thief and PSI Factor.
