Plot summary
In 1934, Maple White, a researcher, and his assistant Azbek find a Mongolian plateau where dinosaurs still live, and Eudimorphodons attack them there. White reaches London and tells his friend George Challenger what he saw, and the two plan a second expedition to explore the plateau. Challenger lectures Professor Summerlee and Lord Thomas, hoping they will pay for the journey. Lord Thomas agrees on condition that Summerlee goes with him. Oscar Perreault, a spectator at the lecture, offers to fund the trip provided the team brings back a live dinosaur, and he sends John Roxton, an associate of his, to watch over his interests. The journalist Arthur Malone and White's daughter Amanda are also asked to come along. In Mongolia the group meets its guides, Myar and Djena, and their transport breaks down, so the journey continues on foot.
