Plot summary
Nicholas Borelli II lives in a small town with parents who worry about germs and diet, and his only friend is Josh. He is meant to spend the summer at a math camp while his parents work in Papua New Guinea, but the camp is cancelled. He is sent instead to Brooklyn to stay with his grandmother Tutti and his uncle Frankie, relatives he has never met. The city overwhelms him, and he does not dare ask Frankie about his job, because his father had told him to keep away from his uncle. Nicholas finds company with two local teenagers, Donna and Tommy, who help him get along.
