Plot summary
Prudent Poirier is a lieutenant with the Montreal police, and his idealism tends to produce disasters rather than arrests. Mohammed Choukroune, a French secret service agent, is sent to Montreal under the name Ventura and presented to Prudent as a new recruit who will assist him. What Prudent does not know is that his new colleague is there to gather information about the death of Guido Carboni, the head of an organized crime network, and that he himself is meant to serve as bait for criminals. The two men come from different countries and different habits of work, and neither is pleased with the arrangement, but the case leaves them no choice except to work it side by side.
