Robert Pugh
Biography
Robert Pugh is a Welsh actor known for many television appearances, including the recurring role of Craster in Game of Thrones. Born in 1948, he grew up near Pontypridd and decided to act after seeing From Russia with Love in a local cinema. He attended night classes at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts before training at Rose Bruford College, graduating in 1976. An early screen role was Sapper Powell in a 1979 production of Danger UXB. He also worked often in Welsh-language television, playing Edgar Evans in the 1984 television film Terra Nova and a soldier in Milwr Bychan, and later took Welsh roles such as Owain Glyndwr in a BBC version of Henry IV, Part One. On television he portrayed Harold Wilson in Longford and Hermann Göring in Nuremberg: Nazis on Trial. In 2023 he returned to Casualty, the series where he had played a paramedic early in his career.
