Plot summary
In Salford in 1976, the grown Khan children have mostly adopted British ways and rarely speak to their parents. Tariq runs a new age store with his brother Nazir, and Maneer lives in Pakistan, looking for a wife without success. Sajid, the youngest, skips school, is bullied for his Pakistani background, and his headmaster, a veteran of the Punjab, is sympathetic. When Sajid is caught shoplifting, George attacks him at home, and Sajid answers back. Convinced he is losing his youngest son to England as he lost the others, George takes him to Pakistan to meet the family he left behind there. His wife Ella disapproves.
