Plot summary
A Welsh comprehensive school, summer 1976. Vivienne teaches drama and wants to mount the year's final show: a glam rock musical of The Tempest. She uses popular songs, hits of the time, to draw her students out, hoping they will explore and express their emotions, cut down their inhibitions and take to creative work alongside the Shakespeare. The cast is led by Davey. Her pupils, full of hormones, get up to antics that threaten to sabotage the musical, and the traditionally minded staff oppose her methods and her liberalism. The headmaster is to play Prospero. The summer heat works against her too.
