Plot summary
Jesse Lujack is a small-time car thief in Las Vegas who reads Silver Surfer comics, listens to Jerry Lee Lewis, and wants Monica Poiccard, a UCLA architecture student he knows from one weekend, to run off with him to Mexico. He steals a Porsche and drives to Los Angeles. On the way, a patrolman chases him; Jesse fires through the back window and flees on foot. His face then turns up in newspapers and on television in connection with the shooting, and he hides in Monica's apartment, pressing her to leave. Monica is drawn to him, but she is close to starting something with a professor who could help her architecture career.
