Plot summary
Harris Glenn Milstead grew up mocked in the schoolyard. Performing as Divine, he became a drag performer, a recording artist and a character actor of stage and screen, and an internationally recognized icon. He came to stand for people pushed aside: gay men, drag performers, punk musicians and other misfits. The documentary gathers interviews with his lifelong friend and collaborator, with his mother Frances Milstead, and with surviving members of the Dreamlanders, along with archive footage of his appearances.
