Biography

Lee Tockar is a Canadian voice performer and visual artist who also writes children's literature and works as a musician, sculptor, illustrator and painter. Born in Kelowna, he took the British Columbia Playwright competition in 1988 for his play Confessions, staged at the Waterfront Theatre on Granville Island. His best-known voice roles include Snips and other characters on My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic, Ripster on Street Sharks, Bibble in Barbie: Fairytopia, Eugene Hamilton, or Bling-Bling Boy, on Johnny Test, George in the opening season of George of the Jungle, Doktor Frogg on League of Super Evil, the title part in Yakkity Yak, Fidgel on 3-2-1 Penguins!, and Makuta Teridax in the Bionicle films. A 2008 Electronic Animation Award honored his male voice-over work of the year for George, and he was nominated for a 2012 UBCP/ACTRA best voice award. He founded FanBuilt.com and announced the FanBuilt project, where animators and producers collaborate and compete for prizes.

  1. Behind the award

    Tockar won the 2008 Electronic Animation Award for Best Male Voice-over Artist of the Year for voicing George in George of the Jungle. Seth MacFarlane, creator of Family Guy, presented the award.

    Tockar was ten when he won first place in a talent show, where he did voices of Kermit the Frog and Bugs Bunny.

  3. Behind the camera

    Tockar's original work "Confessions" earned him the British Columbia Playwright competition in 1988, and it was staged at the Waterfront Theatre on Granville Island in Vancouver. In 1989, his second play, "You Obviously Weren't Listening", placed him as runner-up.

  4. A change of course

    As a teenager, before finishing Kelowna Secondary School, Tockar ran a graphic arts business that had him traveling British Columbia painting wall murals for restaurants.

  5. A first

    Tockar was 12 when he won his first public speaking award. He earned it by reading an essay on horror films that ran two thousand words.

  6. Behind the camera

    Tockar revealed FanBuilt in 2012, a venture that lets producers and animators join forces on big projects and vie for prizes.
