Plot summary
Pollution has left the Blarg homeworld of Quartu uninhabitable, so Chairman Drek and his people tear apart other planets in the Solana Galaxy to harvest material for an artificial replacement, New Quartu. The peacekeeping Galactic Rangers notice the destruction. On Quartu, a blackout during production leaves one warbot defective; he flies off to warn the Rangers about Drek's plan, is shot down, and meets Ratchet, a young lombax spaceship mechanic, on Veldin. Ratchet names the robot Clank, and the pair travel to Kerwan, where they help the Rangers drive off an army of Drek's warbots. Their actions win both of them popularity, and the attention pressures Captain Qwark, who leads the Rangers, to recruit them.
