Biography

Kathleen Harrison was a prolific English character actress who trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and made her stage debut in 1926, playing Mrs. Judd in The Constant Flirt at Eastbourne's Pier Theatre, before reaching the West End the following year in The Cage at the Savoy. Born in Blackburn and raised in London, she had taken a minor film role in Our Boys in 1915 and later played small parts in many British films, among them The Ghoul (1933), Night Must Fall (1937), Gaslight (1940) and The Ghost Train (1941). She became best known as Mrs. Huggett in a trio of postwar comedies about a working-class family, and as the charwoman Mrs. Dilber in Scrooge (1951). Her later work included two BBC adaptations of Dickens novels, and on television she played the title role of Mrs Thursday, a charwoman who inherits a fortune. She died in 1995.
