Teacher's Pet (2004) on Netflix

Plot summary

Leonard is a fourth grader whose mother, Mary Lou, teaches his class and has been nominated for the Teacher of the Year finals in Florida. Principal Crosby Strickler lends them his RV, but no dogs are allowed, so Spot, who has spent a year passing as Leonard's classmate Scott, is left with a pet sitter. Spot wants to be a real boy; Leonard would rather have a normal dog. On Barry Anger's talk show, Spot hears Dr. Ivan Krank promise to turn animals into people, and the scientist's lab is near where the Helpermans will stay. Spot catches up with the RV as Scott and persuades Mary Lou to take him along. The bird Pretty Boy and the cat Mr. Jolly watch a follow-up segment and set out after them.
