Hamish Linklater

Hamish Linklater, born in 1976, is an American actor who also writes plays, writes screenplays and directs. Raised partly in the Berkshires, he started out doing small Shakespeare roles as a child and built his early career on stage, playing Hamlet for two theater companies and appearing in Shakespeare in the Park. He made his film debut in Groove (2000) and later appeared in The Future (2011), Battleship (2012), the Jackie Robinson biopic 42 (2013) and Dead for a Dollar (2022). On television he played Matthew Kimble in The New Adventures of Old Christine and Andrew Keanelly in The Crazy Ones, and his turn as Father Paul Hill in Midnight Mass earned a Critics' Choice Television Award nomination and a Critics' Choice Super Award. He wrote the plays The Vandal and The Whirligig, co-directed Downtown Owl (2023), and in 2026 received his first Emmy nomination for Widow's Bay.
