Plot summary
In 1983 in Owl, North Dakota, three residents live loosely connected lives. Horace Jones is an old man who spends his afternoons at the local coffee shop, recalling better times from the past. Mitch Hrlicka is a high school backup quarterback, and he is depressed. Julia Rabia has just moved to town to teach English at the high school. Around them, the town's other residents go about their days until a historic whiteout blizzard arrives and upends all of their lives.
