Glen Cavender
Biography
Glen Cavender was an American film actor whose screen career spanned 1914 to 1949 and more than 250 films. Born in Tucson, Arizona, he attended a military school and served in the United States Army as a non-commissioned officer before touring with Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show. He entered films with the Frontier Company in 1910 and went on to work for Bison 101, Kay-Bee, Broncho and Kalem before joining Keystone, where he was one of the original Keystone Cops and a regular in Mack Sennett comedies. He also directed three Sennett films between 1914 and 1916, and he had appeared in vaudeville from 1912. In the 1920s he worked for Educational and Christie and played the Union Captain Anderson in Buster Keaton's The General (1926). The coming of sound hurt his career, and he took minor roles until retiring in 1949. He died in 1962.
