David Marshall Grant
Biography
David Marshall Grant is an American actor, singer and writer who was born in Westport, Connecticut, and studied at Connecticut College and the Yale School of Drama. He performed with the Yale Repertory Company, and his first paid job came in the Broadway play Bent. His screen debut was in French Postcards (1979), and he later appeared alongside Kevin Costner in American Flyers (1985). Other films include The Big Town (1987), The Stepford Wives (2004) and The Devil Wears Prada (2006). On television, he gained notice as Russell Weller on thirtysomething from 1989 to 1990. For his performance as Joe Pitt in the original Broadway staging of Tony Kushner's Angels in America, he was nominated for a 1994 Tony Award. Grant started writing in 1998; his play Snakebit earned a 1999 Drama Desk Award nomination and an Outer Critics Circle Award nomination. He went on to write and produce for Brothers & Sisters and Smash.
