Biography

Blair Underwood is an American actor who began his screen career with the 1985 musical film Krush Groove and became known for playing attorney Jonathan Rollins on the NBC legal drama L.A. Law from 1987 to 1994, a role that earned him a Golden Globe nomination. Born in Tacoma, Washington, he spent much of his childhood on military bases. His films include Just Cause (1995), Set It Off (1996), Deep Impact (1998), Rules of Engagement (2000), Something New (2006), Madea's Family Reunion (2006), Juanita (2019) and Longlegs (2024), and he has had regular roles in series such as High Incident, City of Angels, LAX, Dirty Sexy Money, In Treatment, The Event, Ironside and Quantico. On Broadway he played Stanley in a 2012 revival of A Streetcar Named Desire. His honors include two Golden Globe nominations, a Tony nomination, five NAACP Image Awards, a Daytime Emmy and a Grammy.
