Plot summary
Owen Ellison raps while finishing high school, and his childhood friend Jeff Levine manages him. Chasing a record deal, the pair pitches a man in a bathroom stall, only to find he is Rahmel's unpaid intern, Bernard, who agrees to bring Rahmel to their next show in exchange for a producer credit. Jeff invites his father, who tells him to focus on Harvard rather than the music. Owen invites Alicia, Jeff's sister, whom he has loved for years. Backstage before the show, Owen's father, Sergeant Martin Ellison, calms his nerves, and Jeff says he wishes his own father were as supportive.
