Plot summary
Bob Richardson is a rookie black journalist working as a messenger at the L.A. Times in Los Angeles. In the summer of 1965 he becomes a reporter, and what he investigates is the tension in Watts, a section of the city. He is among the earliest correspondents at the scene. The story is drawn from the real events of that summer, which led up to the rioting in Watts, and it follows the troubled months that Bob, his family and his friends live through, a tense period in American history.
