Biography

Annie Potts is an American actress who began her screen career in 1978 with Corvette Summer (1978), a performance that brought her a Golden Globe nomination. She won a Genie Award for Heartaches. She played receptionist Janine Melnitz in Ghostbusters (1984) and its sequels Ghostbusters II (1989), Ghostbusters: Afterlife (2021), and Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire (2024). On television, she played Mary Jo Shively on Designing Women (1986 to 1993), Dana Palladino on Love & War (1993 to 1995), earning an Emmy nomination, and Mary Elizabeth Sims on Any Day Now (1998 to 2002), which brought two SAG nominations. She voiced Bo Peep in the Toy Story films and appeared in Pretty in Pink (1986), Jumpin' Jack Flash (1986), and Who's Harry Crumb? (1989). Later roles include Connie Tucker, known as Meemaw, on Young Sheldon (2017 to 2024) and its spinoff Georgie and Mandy's First Marriage since 2024. She made her Broadway debut in God of Carnage in 2009.
