Plot summary
Arlo Beauregard is half human and half alligator. Raised by Edmée in a swamp, he has spent his life away from other people. On his fifteenth birthday, Edmée gives him a birth wristband and tells him he comes from New York City. Hoping to find his father, Ansel Beauregard, Arlo sets off for the city. Along the way, two alligator hunters, Ruff and Stucky, try to capture him, but a teenage girl named Bertie rescues him. The pair then meet Furlecia, Teeny Tiny Tony, and Alia at a wrestling club. These new friends agree to drive Arlo and Bertie to New York after they help free Marcellus from an aquarium.
