Angus Scrimm
Biography
Angus Scrimm was an American actor, author and journalist who built a long career in horror cinema, most of it defined by a single towering villain. Born in Kansas City, Kansas, he studied drama at the University of Southern California and first earned a living as a writer and editor for publications including TV Guide, Cinema Magazine and the Los Angeles Herald Examiner, and as a liner-note writer for Capitol Records. That work brought him a Grammy, credited as Rory Guy, for notes to a 1974 Erich Wolfgang Korngold album. After minor supporting parts in the early 1970s, he was cast as the Tall Man in Don Coscarelli's independent horror film Phantasm (1979), the role that carried him through its sequels and into steady work in horror features, theater and television, including a recurring part as an SD-6 agent on Alias.
